We got one drive. Let's not act like we discovered a gold mine in the backyard creek.

1 for 8 on third down. Here's what we needed:

19 yards after a false start and a -4 run by Stewart
5 yards after two DWill runs (-3 and 8)
16 after a sack and a short run by Stewart (we picked this one up on the draw)
3 yards after two DWill runs (5 and 2)
19 after a sack and a short run by Stewart
15 after the PI on Moose...which i thought was ticky tack, but it was called
6 after a -1 run from stewart and a short pass to steve
6 after a sack and a 12 yard run from stewart

Two, actually, but the point is we couldn't get crap out of our running game with Hoover out unless you count the passing down draws D-Will had that bumped his average. If you look at his 'run down' carries, they were very mediocre.

draw v/s blitz is boom or bust, to me.

I have no problem with the first down to the TE play. then you run, then you set up solid 3rd down. You don't have to give up your identity, but we can't bitch that they won't adjust and still expect them to be idly conservative, too.

Hell we were in first and long about 1/3 of the time in the second half (and field position killed us second week in a row). Didn't matter - first and ten we got killed with the run. It was definitely just bad play, lacking confidence and execution. The designs they used to attack a 3-4 were somewhat what I'd have done. I just would've spread them more.

Certainly it seems a lack of Hoover hurt them too. But they could've gone out there with King as a lead blocker and done OK. They certainly have used Rosario there too. But like 40% of our O plays last year were out of 2 TE, so that's not a big adjustment.

yes, that's really fucking helpful. Thank you. Dan Henning never abandoned the run, and the way he took weeks and weeks to adjust in years like 04, 06 are an ideal goddamned model for anything we would need to do coming out of the bye.

Let's face it, meat, when it came down to it he put the ball in Delhomme's hands much more than davidson would.

Pretty much everyone agrees that Davidson is a subpar playcaller. I'd actually be ok with keeping him on the staff, but it's painfully obvious that we need someone else making the calls.

well, I don't agree. At his worst, he's bringing what Henning typically did. I think you're blaming calls for what's just shitty play this week.

I'm not comparing him to Henning. This has nothing to do with Henning. It's been three years and we've never had a good offense, unless you count last year, which I don't, because we ran over inferior teams.
