Yeah, but my team won the regular season AND the tournament while beating every team in the league at least once. That means they are the best team in the league.

When you get on the national level your team not only did not win the regular season but the didn't play much less beat each team in the tournament. Therefor you can only truly say they got lucky. Not that they are the best team.

If Duke manages to win the tournament this year without facing UCONN you could not say without a doubt that they are the best team in the country.

 

Duke would have to beat UCONN or Villanova to silence the critics, but if either or both go out in an early upset (pre-final four), the haters will still roast Duke if they won it all. They will all say, they got lucky.

It might be true, but it wouldn't be Duke's fault either.

The rest is total hyperbole. Of course it would be impossible to play every team on the national level, so that strawman don't fly.

 

No but drop the field from 64 to 8 and make it double elimination and you have a much clearer picture.

The big dance as it now stands doesn't produce the best team in the country.

The best you can do is say that a Transitive Property of Basketball exists (we all know it doesn't). The team that wins beat the team the beat everyone else. By that logic Duke beat BC who beat UNC which means that Duke just punked UNC.

Was any of the dookies on this years team on the 2001 team that won the NCAA championship? If not that's ok there were a few on the Heels that have won an NCAA championship. That's alright, it is good that JJ and crew won the ACC championship because that will be the last championship he will win. They will choke before the month is over.
