it's not the case that I believe he's not an up and comer?

I don't think he's a bad coach. I do believe he's far from proven. I don't believe he was such a necessary hire that you undermine your still-unpicked head coach to do so.

I'm not asking you to believe that Garrett is going to be a great anything as I have no particular opinion on him myself. I was responding to your suggestion that this was just Jones overrating Garrett because he was a former Cowboy.

This: "That, and IMO, Garrett isn't someone I think of as the remarkably bright mind Jones does. He's not awful, but I haven't seen the heaping praise and have to consider that part of it's simply that Garrett was a Cowboy for a while." was not correct.

I fully understand what you mean, but you keep going after things I've said as opinion with the intent as if I'd said them as fact.
it's incorrect that I haven't seen the praise for Garrett?
it's incorrect that Garrett's past as a Cowboy had nothing to do with it?

I disagree on both counts. And no matter how bright a guy is, I disagree that a coordinator should be chosen before a head coach or that a guy should be a coordinator after such a short time.

 You can have whatever personal opinion of Garrett that you want. It was wrong to suggest that he wasn't considered a bright mind, that it was Jones overreaching, or that it was about him being a former Cowboy. As CC and others noted, Garrett buzz has been out there, you just didn't notice it. Now just fucking drop it, as I'm sick of you turning every little thing with me into a giant argument.

Blame it on me if you want, but it's your own actions. You were turning my opinions into factual statements to correct it. If I did that, I'd have received much worse than "I disagree", so settle down if you actually do care anything about not causing an argument.

He's probably the best candidate, and he's the only really decent fit for the coordinator that Jones has forced on the incoming guy.

It'd hurt SF, given that they already lack a DC and Knapp has been hired by Oakland.

You stated things about the Garrett hiring that were factually incorrect. Meanwhile I am not in any way trying to dispute your own personal opinion of the man.

both statements were made in my opinion and noted as opinion. I don't believe the idea that Garrett was so highly sought as a coordinator as to be taken before a head coach was free of weight from the idea that he was liked by the organization for his past, either. If you disagree, it's allright to just say "I disagree".
