Just to be clear no one said it doesn't matter the whole pashun thing began when people began to think that was the only difference between wins and losses not David Carr, crappy OL, no running game, Peppers AIDS, etc.

Fans and lazy sportswriters still go to it too often though.

I remember him looking slow and missing a bunch of tackles.

Ultimately, what we want as fans (or should want) is for our team to get better. Cutting Anderson and keeping Beason probably made us a little worse, short term and long term. And his "emotional presence" might hurt the team even more, because apparently he's trying convince the coaching staff to put him in Davis' position, despite TD clearly being better at that spot.

Beason is a great guy and a fierce competitor, but frankly I don't give a shit.

    Slow and missing tackles? Really?

Huh. We definitely remember that differently, because he wasn't slow. He was caught out of position a few times, yes - but he was improving.

Ok. It is what it is. We'll see.

If he's busted up and done, then that's really unfortunate, because ultimately I care about wins and losses, whether it's Beason, Anderson, or Blackburn out there.

    It was certainly implied.

While it's not the end all, it's pretty silly to pretend it doesn't matter, and I don't recall anyone saying that if the team just had passion, everything would change.

I recall the team mailing it in, and players calling other players out.

No, he was very bad. Remember how the defense got much better without him?

Beason was bad on the field last year. The defense took a pretty huge step forward when Kuechly replaced him in the middle. Throw in his huge contract and yes he absolutely should have been cut.

I think Beason definately looked rusty last year. That said I think people forget he had very little participation at training camp. A little rust was to be expected as well as some teething from the injuries. All the same he did put in a 10 tackle performance in a losing effort against against TB and he did come up with the game winning INT against NO week 2. That was a signature Beason play.

It is hard to justify making Beason the highest paid LB with an injury at the time, especially when he has been MIA for so long since. However, people were saying the same thing about Davis last year. Look how that turned out.

How about a few prayers for our LB corp. I really would love to see them all play 16+ games together.
