Yes, anybody with legs can run a go route, but how many TE's can beat the opponent's best corner? You're insane if you think King can do that.

Crumpler would be a nice weapon to have if he is healthy. King and Rosario are not garbage though. I think they can be adequate if we add a decent wide out to the mix.

I'm not interested in spending much on him.

I could be completely fuck all wrong, but it seems unwise to drop a bunch of dough on an older TE coming off knee injury.

And WHY did ATL cut him? Does anyone know what they saved on the cap?

I'm leary. We have alot of basic stuff we need to address - run game, d-line, o-line, wide receiver.

I'm not saying he can't improve the team - and I'd take him at a value price.

The problem is, as I think Magnus is alluding to, is that you need to have actual names to go along with the desires to upgrade the O and D lines. All we have equivalent to a Crumpler-type upgrade is Faneca and I don't think he is worth the money. We are going to get a lineman or a DE with our first pick in the draft, and maybe also our second. With that in mind, I would love to sign Donte Stallworth more than Crumpler. King and Rosario aren't bad and we can live with those two another year. Stallworth is the "scrappy white guy" WR we have been missing and I love his YAC in the games I've seen him play. That's the effort we have been missing.

    *edit*
BTW, I know Stallworth is black.

I was listening to Fox Sports radio this weekend and the talking heads said Atlanta was cleaning house to get a new face on the franchise. They said expect DeAngelo to get the boot if not this season then next

A backup QB beat Lucas, too.

Crumpler was cut because he wasn't worth what they were paying him.

He's had problems with his knee and ankle for multiple years, had arthroscopic surgery on the same knee two years in a row and had problems with swelling, pain and discomfort.

I'm afraid he might be one of those guys we sign and ends up fizzling out around game 5 because of swelling, pain and discomfort in his knee. Then we'd be back with King and Rosario again, but this time neither one would have a rapport with Delhomme or Panther QB X because Crumpler would have had the reps.

He does have value, though, but I don't think I'd give him top money until he could prove he would be worth it.

Did he have a roster bonus coming up?

With his pro-rated signing bonus, I'm wondering how much of his $3.5 million salary was saved.

I'm trying to figure out exactly what 'wasn't worth what they were paying him' means......
