I like how I get proved as definitively correct about Jake Delhomme as I possibly could be, yet the same stubborn fools continue to question what I say about quarterbacks. It just goes to show that those people don't care about reality and will never change their minds. They are completely unreachable by logic or facts or anything else, and there really is no point to them even being on a message board.

    Water Boy:
You don't need to draft a QB, especially not in the early rounds. Quarterbacks peak statistically much later in their careers than any other position, so guys usually won't play their best on their first contract no matter what round they're drafted in. Ideally you'd like to have a guy spend a year or so in your system getting familiar with it before they're asked to take over, but really they just need experience in general. Someone like Kyle Boller was a bad draft pick and I said so at the time, but he's a better quarterback now than he was coming out of California in 2003, and he won't cost you a first round pick now. I'm not saying that I want Boller, as there are better options, I'm just using him as an illustration of the fact that quarterbacks get better with age and yet many of them don't cost as much if you wait.

    WYDD:
That's true, but if a guy is responsible for his team even being in a contest, then I don't pin a loss on him for not making a good play or even making a bad one at the end. My main issue with that Philly game is that it was a mind-numbingly stupid throw, and that Keyshawn got blamed for it even though it was clearly Jake's fault.

    kickazzz2000:
Yeah, I don't have much of a problem with how Delhomme played that day, although I did have an issue with Davidson getting away from the run versus the Chargers. I was just pointing out that we wouldn't have needed a last second comeback if Jake had been better than 15 of 30 for 179 yards and no touchdowns prior to that final drive. He made the play when it counted, which is nice, but it still would have been a 27-24 win if we could have completed a few more passes and scored a touchdown in the second quarter instead of as time expired.

And that was a rhetorical question, right? Thelt is the definition of stupid on TBR.

unrelatedly, some people said in the past I sit the fence too much.

But yeah, there's a lot of that going around.

I do not really want to trade Stewart, I just wanted to point out the kind of thing you would have to do to acquire a decent veteran QB. Some on here seem to think we can just cut Jake and bring in Dan Orlovsky or Sage Rosenfelt and be better. It is not very likely. If we had a chance to add a guy like Petyon, Brady, Brees, McNabb, Cutler, Rivers, etc then go for it but that is pretty unlikely....

those players don't show up every day, no. Brees was a very, very unique case. Warner was a guy many had given up on because of the thumb.

wouldn't it be nice if delhomme got over his elbow to the point that warner seems to have gotten over his thumb

except there is another body part of jake's that isn't fully functional (brain)

if jake could just get back to the '03 version . . .

but that guy is pretty much dead and buried

"Since when did this become an opinion board?"

It's automatically an opinion board, because half the time we don't even know what the hell we're talking about....We just talk and talk until things look believable :tongue3:

No, I don't know. For the most part people make some kind of sense on here?
