Anyone catch it this week? You should - if just to watch the MSM sports folks freak out a bit during the Internet segment. I caught it live.

Between Buzz Bissinger pulling quotes from Deadspin commenters as an example of their content…..
…to Mitch Albom referring to competing with the proverbial "guy in his bathrobe in the basement….
……to Selena Roberts lamenting the fact that LeBron just won't sit down for a chat with her, they all seemed strangely out of touch.

The folks I mentioned didn't seem to grasp that I watch the Sports Reporters AND read Deadspin - and for VERY different reasons. I'm not going to Deadspin to get insightful commentary. I'm going there to laugh at them making fun of Sean Salisbury.

Anyway, it was a bit surreal. Bissinger is a dolt. Overall I thought the show was pretty good though.

I've never been to Deadspin before I watched that episode on Bob Costas. That Buzz guy tore the Blogger a new asshole and rightfully so. Bloggers are not real media. They don't abide to the standards like real sports people.

    Anyone can be a blogger.

I thought the entire 90 min was great.

I DVRed it but haven't gotten around to watching it yet. I read an article about the debate, though, and one of my thoughts is that the controversy wouldn't exist if sports "journalism" was still at the level of previous generations. Unfortunately these days you have random joes who have jobs because they're controversial rather than because they're skilled journalists.
