he's not worth that. Neither have the others that got that, either. I thought the whole idea was to not overpay for people the way others will, but it seems like the team's ideal is overpay or not pay at all.

Gross has never been nothing more than above average at best IMO. This off season silly money has been thrown out to average to above average players. I guess it will be the Panthers turn next year

I personally want Pep signed before Gross. But, that's just me.

Keep in mind those 7 seven year $49 million were for Guards not Tackles so odds are we have to pay even more to Gross.

I will probably have a damn stroke if we spend that much money on an average tackle and we won't spend :shit: on a safety.

It's not that we won't spend money for a safety it's just that....I can't think of a way to finish that.

Unfortunately, that's not the way things work.

I remember how over the top it was to sign Wahle to a 5 year / 30 million deal 2 years ago. That's just 2 years ago.

I can't say I know the right thing to do. Gross is young, durable, and reliable. He's home grown. He doesn't smoke dope and get arrested. He's 'solid'. IMO, He's better than the guys that signed for $7 mill per in March.

So - if we let Gross walk - what do we do?

Sign a guy coming off an ACL for $7 million? He'll get it if he stays healthy. At least. A young, starting LT? $$.

Rely on Butler and Bridges? And then what?

I kinda think you gotta pay to play. I don't like it, but 2 years ago I did not like the Wahle / Lucas signings. Now they seem like bargains, especially Wahle.

I also like the way Smitty's contract is front loaded. Pay them big now while they're in their prime. Takes cap discipline, though.
