How ? The print screen key doesn`t do anything for this. I notice Putt and Mags can add a screen shot to their posts and I`m just curious on the know-how.

Hold down the print screen key and push the ALT key while holding the print key down. Then you go to what ever program you have and paste it as new.

Putt I followed your directions and opened Photoshop, click on NEW and then try to paste, but the paste feature isn`t available.:(

My button says" Print Scrn". It doesn't just say "Print"

I hold it down and press Alt and the little bar at the bottom that says Done will flicker (see screen shot ). I then open Photoshop and press new. It brings up a blank screen and I press Edit and then choose paste.

If you hold down the 'alt' key while pressing the 'print screen', the active window will be captured. Without the 'alt' the entire display on your monitor will be captured.

You can paste in Word, and I think you can paste in MSPaint. I paste my stuff into IrFanView before posting here.

Again, one of those little things a Mac does better. Sometimes, say for creating instructions or whatever, you need multiple screen shots as you go through the processes. It's a huge pain in the ass going back and forth pasteing and saving. On a mac ofcourse, it actually creates a file on the hard drive, so you can just snap the picture and move on to the next shot. When your done, you can go back and open them alll in photoshop for editing or place them as in in any program. As a little extra, it makes the sound of a cameras shutter to let you know you've captured the shot. Just my 2 cents.
