Every time Carolina has had to play at St. Louis, one of the first thoughts in my mind has been about how that damn "fastest turf on earth" seems to cause a lot of injuries, particularly for opposing teams. I suspect that turf was a major factor in Reid's decision. The same cannot be said for Mora, Jr., though.

shelfing guys to protect them this late might weaken those teams instead

Wouldn’t it be ironic if we got into the post season and got to face “weakened” versions of both philly and vicklanta? It’s well documented how diluted the Panthers have been made by injuries so I’m buying into the concept of hoping for more guys like TO to go bye bye. With both of those teams obviously concerned about getting hurt and trying to protect people that is often what can bring on injuries . . . playing scared. Also - as someone already mentioned it takes away momentum and instills some negativity going into the post season.
If philly was without TO, Westbrook and a couple of other guys and the falcons were without Duckett, Dunn and a couple of others by the time we would face them then the playing field would be pretty damn even talent-wise.
It’s also ironic that when I posted a “hate list” thread here at the beginning of the season the falcons and eagles were at the very top of it for most of us. It could not get any sweeter than being able to knock both of these “most hated” teams off of what they already consider their free ride to the Super Bowl.:evil3:

BTW – It also could not get any more gut wrenching than to witness our guys getting spanked in the playoffs, especially at the hands of philly or bitchlanta . . . However, I’ll officially go on record as saying that after that courageous game in the GA dome our guys recently played I am now convinced that even without more injured eagles or falcons on the other side our guys have the heart to make a game of it against any team in the NFC.

:teeth: WTF is up with Mora Jr.? Now he's bringing back Vick, Crumpler, and company to face Seattle! Was Vick's shoulder hurt worse than they let on from the beating he took from the Panthers? Or did wimping out and losing to the Saints cause alot of discord on the team that Mora is now trying to fix? Or is he just a plain ass trying to keep Carolina out of the playoffs any way possible?
