Is this like the weakest link, where the morons vote off the smart one because they are scared?

I don't think anyone did it out of fear of the Panthers. I think they are grinning that it might be a byproduct tho. Especially in philly.

Truth is...no one wants to face the Panthers because they are a hot team. No one is afraid of the Saints or Rams. They are too spotty of teams. The Panthers have shown that they can light up the post season. No one wants to face the Panther's bunch of second stringers for the playoffs. Sad isn't it? Still, for the sake of argument let's say we get in. The most likely road to the SB would be Green Bay (lost to), Philly (lost to), and Atlanta (lost to). To make the show, this would be the Revenge Tour 2005 and one helluva story.

Seems like Philly would love to have a chance to repay us. Pussies.

    we are getting no help...

Portis, Arrington out for Redskins' finale

    NFL.com wire reports

ASHBURN, Va. (Dec. 27, 2004) -- The Washington Redskins will be without running back Clinton Portis, linebacker LaVar Arrington and cornerback Ade Jimoh for the season finale against the Minnesota Vikings.

Also, cornerback Fred Smoot is unlikely to play after spending the night in a Dallas hospital with a mild kidney bruise.

Portis tore the right pectoral muscle in his upper chest in a 14-10 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Dec. 26. Trainer Bubba Tyer said Portis won't need surgery, but that the injury would probably have sidelined the running back for several weeks if the season were not about to end.

The injury ends Portis' hopes of becoming the first back in NFL history to run for 1,500 yards in each of his first three seasons. With 1,315 yards, Portis also falls short of Stephen Davis ' franchise record of 1,432.

Ladell Betts will start in Portis' spot.

Arrington played only a few plays against the Cowboys in his second game back from knee surgery. Tyer said Arrington was limited after developing some tendinitis in the knee during his 11 games away.

"I don't have any strength in my legs," Arrington said.

Jimoh severely sprained his right ankle against the Cowboys. His injury, coupled with Smoot's, left the Redskins without enough defensive backs to a play a regular nickel defense during Dallas' game-winning drive in the final two minutes.

Smoot was injured when hit in the side by teammate Sean Taylor in a pile of players trying to make a tackle on Keyshawn Johnson. Smoot vomited on the sidelines and was taken to a hospital for tests before returning to Washington on Dec. 27. The results were negative, but the Redskins will probably not risk playing him with the team no longer in the playoff picture.

With Smoot and Jimoh hurt, Walt Harris will join Shawn Springs as the starting cornerbacks against the Vikings. Little-used Garnell Wilds will be the third cornerback in passing situations, and Rufus Brown will be promoted from the practice squad as the fourth cornerback.

I have thought the same thing myself. I think that of all the possible teams that can make the playoffs, the Eagles and Falcons are probably most afraid of us.
As bad as Philly looked against the Cowboys, I can't imagine Reid NOT wanting to get his team in sync for the playoffs. Pretty odd strategy for coaching, I think.

True or not. If we were in their positions we would try and make the outcome of next week as favorable to us as possible. So you can't really blame them.

pretty smart actually. I dont see Ried doing it on purpose as much , but I sure Mora reviewed the scenario before the Saints game. Im sure Vick was hurting a little after the Carolina game . he was even JACKED UP on espn.
