Yes, but at least he wouldn't lose any data on his hard drive. Just replace the motherboard.

True. He can always buy a new computer and add that drive to it as a D drive too.

He called again...It was the fucking hard drive. the guy put a new one in it, reinstalled Win98SE and he should have it tomorrow.
