Now they can franchise Clark I guess.

The Indianapolis Colts signed safety Bob Sanders to a five-year, $37.5 million contract extension on Friday that includes $20 million in guarantees, reports NFL Network's Adam Schefter.
The deal makes Sanders, 26, the NFL's highest paid safety.

I wish I understood this salary cap thing, because it sure seems like some teams figure out to sign whoever the hell they want.

The trick is to fill out your roster with a shitload of late picks and undrafted free agents.

The Colts must value having a good safety a lot more than we do. He does make a big difference in that defense though.

That was my assumption as well, and it's what the media constantly says, but when you actually look at the numbers in terms of points and yards given up when he plays versus when he doesn't, the difference isn't that large.

Bill Polian must be doing pretty well after all. All the Colts starters have played for the Colts and no one else.

Well, they really only have Manning, Wayne, Harrison, Freeney, Saturday, and now Sanders on sizeable contracts. 6 guys take up most of the cap room. Everyone else is on a rookie contract or near the vet minimum.

This year, we had Rucker, Jake, Smith, Wahle, Foster, Morgan, Diggs, Jenkins, Kemo, Peppers and Lucas. Plus a bit more for Carr. They certainly get more bang for their buck. Quality over quantity for them.

Yes it is. They've done well with that. We have to do much, much better.
