You can always tell who's been butthurt by Collin by reading these threads.

I wonder if I left if folks would be creating threads in my honor? Doubt it.

    Exactly.

    More football discussion = good.

A bunch of crying about hurt feelings = bad.

Collin has been spot on with almost every comment made about this draft. The real question we should ask Collin is not who SHOULD the Panthers draft, but who WILL they draft. At the moment that is a more difficult question to answer.

I don't think Hurney will actually go Newton or Gabbert, as I think that's just smokescreen in a futile attempt to generate some trade-up interest. If we stick, I'm betting that we take Dareus or Bowers, and I'm really not sure which of those I would rather see. Dareus is the bigger need and arguably the bigger talent, but I do like the idea that Bowers is a plug-and-play guy whose effort will never be an issue and who can start for 5-10 years even if he never makes a Pro Bowl. If we had our second round pick (RAGE!!!) then we could go DT at #33 since that's a really good spot for them in this terrible draft.

Basically, Hurney will try to trade down for virtually any extra picks, but I doubt that anyone will try to jump up since there's no player at any position that teams will feel like they need to have at #1. I think a trade up to 3, 4, or 5 is more likely. Just an unbelievably bad time to have the #1 pick, and that will only get worse if the owners cave and don't get the union to accept a rookie pay scale.

I think a rookie wage scale is one thing the union and owners will agree on if nothing else. If they can get their act together before the draft and get a new CBA with the rookie scale we have a lot better chance to trade down since the financial hit of the #1 won't be as big a factor. But it really sucks to have the first pick in a draft that has no one really deserving of being a #1.
