You can hang that on Richardson. He wouldn't let Fox do that

Exactly, Jerry has handled this whole thing poorly. It appears that Fox was not in on the plan to young and cheap. Either he should have been part of that and extended or let go before this season started. Why keep a coach for the first year of a youth movement when you do not plan to keep him to see it through. I guess we did the same thing to Seifert though.

that's the thing. Callahan isn't HC material, but he's a big part of the Jets' O success. So is Schottenheimer good, or just taking care of a part of the O?

Callahan won't leave, FWIW. He's an assistant head coach and they don't have to let him go.

his players bust their ass even when they have no incentive to do so, when they have no chance to win.

3 of 9 doesn't look great, but it's certainly not the only thing that matters. He didn't inherit a winner, but he made them one for a while. As for whether a winning record is the goal? Of course it is. I don't see us picking any one coach that will immediately give us back to back winning seasons, or 3 of 4, or perennially contending. Even Harbaugh, who I feel is a bit of a star in waiting. Even Cowher, Marty Schottenheimer. Atlanta took 30 years to get to a Super Bowl and 40 years to have two winning seasons together. 3 of 9? We can do better, but it's better than anything we've had so far. Hopefully we build on that, instead of fuck it up worse.
