I've always like Marty, love his show on sirius, he's just super old. Doesn't fit what JR has done.

Other than being from an offensive background, Brian does. He's also been considered for the top job, and even turned down buffalo interview.

    So -

Fox = 3 of nine winning seasons, a disaster this year. What makes him a great free agent coach?

1-15 to a Super Bowl in two years. Perhaps if you are looking to turn something around quickly, you look at that and decide to bring him in.

If you're looking for someone with HC experience but don't want to pay the premium (or have the prerequisites) for one of the golden boys like Cowher, he's probably the best out there.

Fox has a lot of things to hang his hat on.

He turned around a 1-15 team.
He took his team to a superbowl.
He had teams in 2004 and in 2009 who got off to really bad starts but turned it around and finished around .500. That shows that his teams never quit and he never lost the team (prior to this year).
He was able to do what he did without a solid QB. Even during his best years Jake was marginal really.
His track record for finding players on defense who can play is pretty solid both in the draft and free agency.
He is even tempered and does not embarrass his owner in press conferences.

5 of 9 seasons without a losing record, and nothing before this season worse than one game under .500. A Super Bowl and NFC title game appearance. Two division titles. He's most definitely a players coach.

If you're an elite team, then you might not be interested in him, but there are at least 20 teams in the league that would kill for mediocrity like that. Plus, I think most teams will be willing to give him a pass for this season.

Ha...maybe that would work. Fire him and then re-hire him after a couple of months and an appearance on one of those makeover shows.

If not for all the bad blood that has built up this year I would be happy to see him come back. He should have been extended in the off season and we should have spent a little money in order to have more talent on the team, especially on offense.
