The Lions have an "agreement-in-principle" with Jim Schwartz to be their next head coach.

Maybe long term, but there's nothing but upside right now. He could go 4-12 and be a hero.

Word is that Green Bay wants Dom to be their next DC.

And for anybody wondering, Green Bay wouldn't switch to a 3-4. Dom ran a 4-3 defense in Jacksonville at Tom Coughlin's command, and given the Packers personnel, it's almost certain that McCarty would keep the same front.

    Holy Shit!

Gruden/Allen fired in Tampa, on ESPN TV right now.

    edit:

Also, Dallas fired their DC Brian Stewart.

"The coaches are in place. I've said that. How can I be any clearer?"
"Look, I've said that our coaching staff, as far as I'm concerned, is in place. I just want to make the statement rather than answer questions, because your questions imply certain things that I don't want to imply."

    yeah, saw that on Stewart.

I can't say I expected to see so many esteemed coaches getting gone this year, but if you figure new head coaches did so well (Smith, 11-5; Sparano 11-5, Harbaugh 11-5; Tomlin 22-10 in two years with playoff appearances, and longshot Zorn even making 8-8) at what are likely cut-rate contracts as new guys, I guess some owners don't want to be out of the loop whether the decision is good or not.
