Foster was predicted as high as mid first round... POrtis wasn't near there... that's why people picked Peppers/Portis... anyone else would have done the same... and when Foster slipped to the second round he was a smart pick at the time

    meat....

remember when the season opened and i said you guys shoulda picked portis? you said, we'll see...

    there ya go! see?
    :p

not season opening...it was preseason. i went and saw the doncos and the niners. of course the niners won that preseason game, but the rookie portis was awesome! then he had some fumbling fiasco during the beginning of the season and he learned quick not to do it anymore. he lost the ball a couple times on one game! he got better and better...the kid is a gem!

Yep and I remember correcting you b/c I was sold on Foster's preseason flash.

That was like a $5000 blow job.

I wanted Portis big time. I thought we'd get him, but I wanted Foster more, I still do. I just never thought Foster would have dropped to us, that's all.

Lots of people questioned Portis ability to be a feature back. I guess the only question now is "Can he be a feature back behind another OL besides Denver's?" As good as Portis has been behind that line, I would have bet Foster would have been better, much better. Panthers got the better back.

Hurricaine coaches seem to think McGahee is better though. That's a scary thought. Michigan coach was the same way about Brady when asked about Greise "Yea he's good, but you gotta see this other guy..." type thing. And McGahee is staying in school another year? hmmm Might just have to tank one more season......

I've played a few sports pretty sick feeling before, JV football, pick up basketball and golf. I don't know that you could do that back to back, but for one week, something about being sick really causes you to focus on your technique, and not waste energy in un needed areas. You can actually get in a zone...

Many times in Jordan's career he played sick and put up one of those 40 plus point nights... this is fact.

hehehe...meat, in reality, no one knows how things pan out...or how rookies do.

here's my take, before MNF starts.

it's luck! bear might have something on that cursed thingy, but know what? that's what all my vike buds say about our luck! we got none. and yes, the word cursed been thrown on the vikes board like it's gonna go out of style. i keep saying, this over and over, send good vibes to your team. bashing and giving up has got to be bad kharma. am superstitious, as you can see.

besides, just cuz portis jelled (sp) well with the doncos doesnt necessarily mean things woulda been same had you guys got him.

    shoulda/woulda/coulda...bah, forgetaboutit! titans are on.

success creates success. Having that offense, and that line, a number of backs can do well. Portis is very Thurman Thomas in his ability to pick that hole and go with it. He wouldn't do as well trapping here, though he'd have success on the draws.

If McGahee comes out, I'd very seriously consider him with the QBs.

wow, maybe not. I got this in my mail. Same guy has Clarett as the #1 back, listed only because of the idea that he may try to petition to come out

    >>he excels in all aspects of the game, with the exception of blocking. He's not a smart person and his Wonderlic score will be among the lowest. In fact, he was nearly academically ineligible to meet NAACP requirements out of high school.

Look at Travis Henry's wonderlic scores. Then tell me it matters for a back that much.

Blocking can be teached. He's young, I'd expect that.
