we didn't hear about the elbow problem until after the final injury, but it was certainly bothering him before that in 2006. I'd say that, by the way he responded after rest in 2006, and starting 2007, that's part of it.

I do think the audibles help, too. That's something we just didn't take much advantage of, after he went down.

    Last comment from me...

A QB that is barely in the top half of the league isn't what this team needs. And if it weren't for Steve Smith, Delhomme wouldn't be in the top half of the league.

As for Brooks, he played for New Orleans, correct? Aren't they in the NFC, South division it seems. So, yes, Brooks was in the same conference.

Lastly, I agree with you on Anderson. Maybe not worth the money he would demand. But we can still hope right?!

Steve Smith struggled to get 1000 yards this past season and would not have if he had not played the first couple of games with Jake. Jake is better than he gets credit for.

Well sure, a QB without a receiver is as useless as a receiver without a QB. Smith never hurts but you have to make the throw, I don't buy that Delhomme's awful and Smith just makes him look great.

And "average to above average" is fine for this team. This team structure doesn't require Manning. When he's healthy, he's more than enough.

My fault, he was still with NO in 2005. Still, don't pretend he didn't earn the trip to Hawaii.

If anybody could look good with Steve Smith to throw to then what happened with Carr?

Jeeeez. Without Jerry Rice, Montana wouldnt have....without Marvin Harrison, yadda yadda ya.

How bout last year. Without Jake Delhomme, Steve Smith wouldnt have...

Of COURSE they work off each other. And no quarterback was going to have high stats in a Henning offense. Does JD have his flaws? Of course. He has more positives than negatives. Hes taken us to two NFCCs, a superbowl, which if we won, he was the clear MVP, and we've seen what we are without him.

Really....drafting a QB because perhaps his elbow is still fucked is fine...drafting one because hes getting up there in age is whatever....but why, after last season, would we start bitching about Delhomme? Jesus.

    QB IS NOT A PROBLEM

ok for all of you so called fans who think you know the panthers you would realize the panthers do not need a QB! Jake Delhomme is NOT a bad QB... He NEEDS a O-LINE... When the line blocks for him we praise him but when he slumps its all his fault... so our starting QB Jake is not bad at all.... 2nd string... Matt Moore is not a bad QB at all... if he works behind jake for another year then by the start of the next season where he will take over and be fine he just needs to learn a little more about the offense and letting jake mentor him would be great for him.... So can we (Carolina Fans) start looking at the O-Line we need to just forget doing any free agent signings until we have a set O-Line... your O-line is like a seed without it your nothing... it would improve the run and pass game...

its kinda like this, does jake give you a consistent chance to win every game??

    yes.

and as long as this coaching staff is around we aren't going to spend mega dollars on a qb. and i'm fine with that.

oh yeah, didn't jake do pretty well with moose the year smith went out? the constant here is jake.

there's better, and there's worse. but money needs to spent upgrading areas other than qb.
