Weis would not be too expensive. His tenuous tenure at Notre Dame dropped his price tag.

Plus, the Chiefs won't continue to score points. Hell, they were shut down against the Colts, who basically have no more DB's left.

So, to presume that he would be that much more expensive than, say, Sean McDermott or Jim Harbaugh is incorrect.

I don't care who the head coach is, really. Just as long as a solid coaching staff is put together, and the correct personnel is matched with that coaching staff's needs.

This is why I believe, in large part, JR is not spending any money. He knows the labor deal's getting done, and he knows that he's brining in a new coach--likely with new ideas for how to run schematics. So, wisely, he did not spend money in a lame-duck season for a coach who has an extremely vanilla, conservative set of schematics on both sides of the ball, when the prevailing sentiment is JR will want to see some sort of change to the "style" of play on the field, not just the overall result.

If it's Cowher, which is a dying possibility, it's a 3-4, so you will need the cap room for the architecture needed for this defense. If it's Weis, on offense, you will need the cap room for several players that will make his spread offense work.

For all the talk of Davidson working under Weis, it doesn't matter if Davidson either (1) Sucks Dick or (2) Has limited or no ability to design and execute his own offensive concepts, due to Foxy's micro-management of his entire staff. Davidson's offense, in terms of personnel and schematics, resembles nothing of what I saw, conceptually, from 2001-2004 in New England (not even talking about the personnel side--if you have ideals and concepts, you run them. Davidson, if he is truly a Weis disciple, is not following that lead.)

I don't think there's any question about the micro-management part. Fox has always has his finger on every button. It's what drove Henning away (which probably didn't help), and it's what's led to many of our inconsistencies on offense. Defensively, I think Meeks has more control than Trgo ever did, and I think a shiny Super Bowl ring--one that he truly earned--speaks to his clout in that area. I like the Tampa-2 concept, with quick lineman who can penetrate. You will get gashed, but you will ultimately give up limited touchdowns and the interceptions will come in bunches.

Charles Godfrey is leading the NFL in INT's. Meeks knows what he's doing, and it looks like he's being allowed to do it. Davidson--ehh.

I want Cam Newton from Auburn,
    That guy is a stud!
But he still would not have anyone to throw to.

Moore won't get a chance here, unfortunately. When you're a winner 60% of the time as a starter, and you throw twice as many TD's as INT's, you'd usually prefer to extrapolate that out over 16 games and see how it shakes out. I don't view him as elite by any stretch, but he's so much more prepared to move the team TODAY than anyone else we have, it's not even funny.

Oh well. Some people prefer to have their balls tied in a knot for 3 months.

I think it's clear, or should be, that the offensive problems go far beyond Moore or Clausen. They have their parts in it. Moore forces shit, and Clausen is a rookie...but I fear we're really not getting to see what either one is really capable of.

To say at this point though, that Clausen will never be a worth NFL QB is just foolish. FAR too soon to make that assumption.

The thing that concerns me about both of them is that - given the opportunity - they haven't taken over the huddle.

Neither seems to have that field general quality.

Whatever that's worth, that concerns me about their future.
