    so essentially he's a DL that doesn't want to get drafted to be a 3-4 end because OLB is the higher paying glamour playmaking spot?

    If Miami is going 3-4 and he knows it, it makes sense if he simply wants to get the big #1 pick contract. He could work into either of two positions for them.

    He could go to Oakland which would be sort of fitting since his dad played there.

    Al Davis would never allow Long to be taken in the first round. He's too good a player for the Raiders.

    They were working towards one under Saban/ Capers so I figure they'll continue to build the 3-4.
