Chris Gamble is killing us!

When you are 0-3 there are lots of problems, but none are more glaring to me than the soft and uncaring play of Chris Gamble. Shutdown corner? PLEASE!!! While Jake has his detractors, his interceptions last night were not his fault. Moose made a very lackluster effort to make a play on the ball and Steve changed his route as the ball was being released. A pro caliber effort by Moose and a better decision by Steve and likely neither ball would have been picked.

Gamble is a soft cover man and looks like he is playing at about 75% speed. Playing off a tight end by 15 yards and giving up an easy completion for a first down is unexcusable. I remember a game when the Panthers had the Bengals beat and Carson Palmer threw what was essentially a fourth down prayer about 35 yards downfield and Chad Johnson laid out and caught it. Chris Gamble was following Johnson down the field (following, not covering)....he never looked back for the ball. It went right past his helmet and into Johnsons arms. Bengals go in for a TD a few plays later and they pull out a victory.

Will Fox ever chew his ass out for lackluster play...not in our lifetime!!

He's been paid equal to peppers' salary just on bonuses. (bonii?)

 

I thought he had a solid game out there honestly. Some of that soft coverage is based on the blitzing. He tackled well, he didn't get beaten deep, I'm OK with this game's Gamble.

 

Made some good plays too, but he isn't living up to his potential and ability, this season. So far.

Then there's a new D, he ain't the brightest bulb, and look who's back there with him. Hell we have a rookie 7th rounder, Teal, Godfrey, Marshall. I think Godfrey is playing like shit most of the time, and Munnerlyn and Teal are ST guys.

And very little help from the DL. They're blitzing guys to cover it up and it falls on the secondary.

 

That's the thing. DL is killing us, puts too much pressure on the rest of the defense.

 

Everyone wants to beat up the defense....they held Dallas to 13 points. That's their job...it may not have been pretty but they did their job.

 

Godfrey looked bad last nite. He was faked out of his jock on the one running play. And a pass play he just kinda fell on the receiver. Poor Beason is killing himself trying to be a leader and I'm afraid he will get hurt bad. Nobody to keep the O-line off of him. Kemo may suck but he sucks alot less that the players we have now.
