In 45 years of covering the NFL, I have never seen a more cowardly offensive line than the one employed by the current Panthers when David Carr is in the game.

Of course playing with a broken back and knowing the next sack may be the last time you ever walk again could be a contributing factor. Has anyone checked this man for a shoulder injury worse than Delhomme's? Bernie Kosar, he ain't.

In 45 years of covering the NFL, I have never seen a more incompetent kickoff and punt return team, especially on the right side, which has been obvious since the opening game.

If Coach John Fox doesn't realize that this offense WILL NOT ACCEPT Carr on any terms, then he is totally in denial, perhaps like Andy Reid in regard to his sons. He can fire Carr, or fire the whole line, or fire them all, but there will never be a cohesive attack with Carr under center. Fox could get better effort from his line with a high school QB running the show.
There may be great denial at such a presumption, but it has happened many times before in the NFL, and it will happen again because totally competent linemen have sometimes opened the door on a QB they despise. Not saying it has become THAT drastic in Carolina, but that old bullshit about team harmony and camaraderie works both ways.
You don't have to be in the dressing room to realize this is a team on the brink of completely foundering. Analyze the statistics all you want, but the problem starts with confidence in the guy taking the snap and having special teams prepared to start a game, kicking or receiving.
