    QB market rolling slowly
Submitted by Darin on Tue, 2007-04-03 20:34.
QB David Carr got together with the Panthers today, and Joey Harrington's scheduled to be in town Wednesday for a similar set of meetings as the Panthers look for a new backup.

They are apparently in a slow-moving investigative mode, and that seems to suit the candidates as well.

Miami appears to be entering the mix for Carr, and they'd provide a happy medium for the former number one pick. He wouldn't have to worry about getting absolutely killed like he did in Houston, and he'd have the clear crack at the starting job that's not available here or in Seattle.

Folks are fired up about the former first-rounders, but there's a real chance neither ends up here and they obtain Chris Weinke's replacement via trade or the draft.

Somebody remind me, who's available in trade as our next alternative when Hurney fucks this up.

    Frye was an earlier rumor.

Frye's good enough talent. He's not really someone I'd call veteran enough, and Davidson was part of the staff that ended up benching him.

Steve Reed will be on the Bill Rozinski show momentarily to talk about the Carr visit

Carr in drivers seat - will explore all options before making a decision

Harrington due in later today, will have dinner with Panthers and continue meetings tomorrow.

Reed feels Harrington more likely to to sign, though neither is also realistic.

other options, Anthony Wright - Charlie Frye.

trickle down effect could play into it as more moves are made (towards the draft)

    don't expect anything soon.

Updating on Keyshawn, Marty under assumption that KJ is coming back, KeyShawn wouldn't commit to anything (via phone with Reed) Reed seems to think he will be back because of few options.

Keyshawn will continue to work out on his own in California.

yada yada on Colbert and Carter.

Take on Zone blocking, "interesting idea, takes advantage of our lineman" "nothing to lose by trying it, RB on roster more suited. "

    Nothing new - yawn!

I'm interested to see what we do with Colbert. I assumed he would be gone by now, because we basically gave up on him at the end of the season. He probably has a better chance of sticking, at least until September, now that Hankton is done.

McCown is certainly nothing special, but I guess he fits what we're looking for. He could start for a number of teams. Don't see Kitna moving, and I wouldn't want him here anyway. McCown still has some upside.
