Can peppers block a trade if we franchise tag him? I.E we F-tag him and send his ass to Detriot, But say he wants to go to dallas, can he do that.

 

No. But he can refuse to put together a contract with them, which would likely keep Detroit from making the trade.

 

I think it works like this. We tag him and tell him to work out a trade that we can accept. He talks with a team and tells them what he wants as far as a contract. They talk to the Panthers and find out what we will have to get to let him go. They sign him and we take what they are offering in lieu of the two first round picks we would get under the terms of the tag.

Basically he has control of where he goes but the team can refuse to take anything less than two first round picks for him. A team looking to sign him would want to know what the Panthers would agree to before they committed so the Panthers have some control. If he wanted to go to say Atlanta or Tampa the team would demand the two first round picks which most likely kills the deal.
