Just drink heavy thought the pre-game show. Then when the game comes on it will not matter as much. I started right after pre-season with the Panthers and I have not missed on second of sleep.

I got up early this morning after falling asleep watching Seattle make the playoffs. I went straight for the computer. I am with you Mags because I fear we will not consider Harbaugh and I don't trust Hurney. However, Rivera is solid and there was no rumor about Grimm. I also think there will be others interviewed, and nobody is going to say a word about Harbaugh before Jan 4. I think this week will have several rumors and announcements. The press conference on Tuesday is interesting. I think it is to thank Fox and reassure the fans. However, part of me wonders if Rivera isn't just the Rooney rule interview and it has already been decided. Regardless, it will be analyzed and scrutinized for days. We have a busy week.

I'm not gettin' "most", at least not this season. I count six:

    Ryan
    Carroll
    Tomlin
    Bellichick
    Smith, L
    Smith, M

and Tomlin has an offensive background as a player.

Nothing against defensive backgrounds, I'm just ready for a fresh new philosophy after 16 years and only middling success and limited excitement.

I prefer the franchise QB as well, but the coach impacts every player. I fear "the Grimm" but I do not fear Rivera. If Luck comes out, I take Rivera. He woud oversee a defensive building process that would make us all proud.

As for JR, I think we share your concern. However, let us know after Tuesday if you still feel this way.

Look at his actions (or lack of them) in the past 2 years. Heart surgery, firing his offspring, Not extending Fox after going 12-4, cleaning house, becoming (obsessed) involved in the CBA, the letter to the PSL holders, etc. Each of these moves caused us to scratch our heads at the time. Fox feeling frustrated because he is not allowed to get players he needs, etc. Not trusting JR is an understatment.

If you are interested in Luck, then Harbaugh will probably not be returning to Stanford, however, I still think there is a mild chance that he will. Maybe during the interview process he realizes that the grass in Michigan isn't greener, that SF is not a dream job, or that Elway is not qualified to run the Broncos. I think we need to show interest in Harbaugh for no other reason than to bring Luck out.

JR's view on football ops will never change. That's what makes a Harbaugh hire very unlikely. And, see Mike Smith. If you have a strong running game, and a capable QB who understands how to lead, you don't need an "offensive HC".

Mularkey alone gives them 2-3 wins a year.

The Smith hire was actually laughed at in league circles.

As to the Mike Smith equation, I'd swap GMs with them any day.

edit: oh, and Mags, not having a coach has been driving me crazy all year. I'm relieved he's finally out the door, as long as he was going.

If we interview Harbaugh and he says no, I'm ok with that. Like Mags, if we don't interview him and give him a chance to say no, I'll be pissed.

THere's 3 names we're interested in, none of whom are from playoff teams. Hoping for some winning team assistants once they start dropping.

What about Tom Clements http://goo.gl/zygvp as a OC, or Joe Philbin http://goo.gl/rU1Ku as Head Coach ? Both seem to be flying below the radar, even though both have had great success with the Packers.
