Canes vs. Bruins (12/23/2018)

A nice Christmas present to moi was being able to go up to Raleigh for my 1st Canes game of the season (vs. the Bruins) during the team's 'WHALERS NIGHT' Celebration where the team honored their previous years as the Hartford Whalers (before they move to NC in 1997) . . . Former players were there and the Canes wore the old Green Hartford Whalers jerseys . . . Long time friend of mine (and Canes season ticket holder) Kate was able to hook me up with a super seat in Section 108 right were the Canes players entered the ice at !!!!!

As a kid growing up in the 203 (70-83) I remember the early NHL years of the Whalers . . .. The Civic Center Roof Collapse (1/78) which forced the team to play part of their 1st NHL Season in Springfield MA (1979-80) until the newly rebuilt Civic Center opened (2/80) . . . From 79-97 Hartford was a major league city along with its bigger neighbors Boston and NY City, which was nice !!!!!

One of the big regrets in my life was never getting to check out the Whalers at the Mall as a kid (I should've asked the folks to take me up to Hartford for a game DUH!!!!!!!) but this night was a nice substitute with the Canes/Whalers beating their former New England rivals from Bahston 5-3 !!!! #brassbonanzalives
