Network will carry 65 of Carolina’s regular-season games per season beginning in 2008-09

RALEIGH, NC—Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has reached a new agreement with its local television rights holder, FSN South. Beginning with the 2008-09 season, FSN South will telecast a minimum of 65 of the Hurricanes’ games per season, an increase of 10 games per season from the outgoing agreement.

“We are pleased that this new agreement with our longtime partners at FSN South will bring our fans more televised games,” said Rutherford.

Along with an increase in the minimum number of televised games, FSN South will telecast a minimum of 35 of the Hurricanes’ regular-season road games each season, as well as all Hurricanes postseason games exclusively available to local rightsholders. A complete post-game show with commentary and analysis from the Hurricanes’ television play-by-play voice John Forslund, and color analyst Tripp Tracy will follow each of FSN South’s telecasts.

“The Carolina Hurricanes are a consistent contender in the National Hockey League, and we are proud to continue our partnership with this successful franchise,” said Jeff Genthner, senior vice president and general manager of FSN South. “FSN South is committed to being the region's premier destination for sports fans to watch their local teams, and our agreement with the Hurricanes reinforces that commitment throughout the Carolinas.”

FSN South, the nation's largest regional sports network, reaches more than 12 million homes in seven states in the Southeast. Through its affiliates and other Fox Networks Group-owned networks, FSN reaches more than 82 million homes through 22 regional networks. Headquartered in Los Angeles, FSN-owned or affiliated regional sports networks serve as the television home to 64 of the 82 NHL, National Basketball Association and Major League Baseball teams based in the United States.
