The wings settled for Robitalle after losing Lapointe in free agency. Then Shanny and Yzerman cut their salaries in oder to sign hull. Everyone is under contract for next season, so they will be expected to win again next year....and with a 100% Yzerman that will be a lot easier. The only 'star' doing anything against the canes is federov.


If you remember, Borque and Blake went to the Avs so they could win a cup.

I agree - this is the way the NHL works now. However, my main point is that this is whats WRONG with the NHL. Its whats wrong with MLB and soon it will cause the same havoc in the NHL.

If you have the money, can sign the big stars AND they're willing to sign, then, great for your team! However, this does not make for a good league.

Back the issue at hand - you have to admit that 99.9% of hockey "know-it-alls" predicted the Wings to win in 4 or at the very least 5 games. They never would have imagined the 'Canes playing even with the Wings.

The fact that Carolina won the first game and played so well the second should give every Wing's fan something to think about. Hopefully, a "wise" fan would stop talking shit about how Carolina can't play with the Wings and doesn't even belong in the same rink.

This is why I was applauding the first game win - because it would hopefully stop the shit from Wings fans. I guess I should've known better - having grown up in the Wing's shadow in Michigan.

so if the wings win the next 3 then they have won in five games and then 99.0% of the experts will be right. correct? why does it matter how many games it takes anyways? no one is going to remember....they'll only remember the one that wins the cup
