What if he's a combination of the Brawny man and Doug Flutie?

No argument with that. My point is, I don't think anyone is disputing the fact that he (Newton) has a very legitimate chance to be elite. THAT is why we should roll the dice with him.

The fact that it's nearly guaranteed that he improves our football team since he is a certain upgrade over Claussen is just an additional (but not the primary) reason to draft him.

Could the Brawny man throw a fade or crossing route?

I don't know that he improves us if he's not playing and has a long developmwnt plan because of his background.

Most any prospect can throw, accuracy really needs to matter. Brawny, like Cam and other mythically proportioned figures, people don't worry as much about that.don't know why.

MAtt Moore is better than Jimmy Clausen, and Matt Moore sucks.

I absolutely think newton is better than Clausen.

Whether he's a better long term prospect than Fairly, Bowers, etc. is the big question.

We need someone besides Clausen. Shit - the BUSINESS OF THE FRANCHISE needs someone besides clausen. Doesn't mean it's newton, but he would sell some tickets.

If a QB can move the ball down the field, I don't care about the other crap. It's the same way I feel about Tebow. I want someone who can take command of the team. Anyone who gets to this point already has enough physical skills.

Yea, I'm not picking Newton to erase any bad vibes about Clausen. I'm picking Newton because I saw him play, and he's the most gifted athlete in this draft. He just happens to be a QB, who has mobility and a strong fucking arm. Has a long way to go, as would any other player we would pick at #1.

being set on that - the 'not clausen' thing - will probably disappoint a lot of people. As will the successful veteran QB we'll bring in that won't be a flashy name that will get us winning games.

Newton probably has no business seeing the field right now. It's funny seeing people want Newton to succeed in the same environment that just made Clausen fail.
