I wouldn't have a major problem with that at all. I however think because of the lockout, they draft Newton. If the lockout isn't going on they have a little more flexibility, and might trade grab a free agent etc.

I really want to side with the players, but De Smith is just such a dick, it makes it hard. I'm sure Upshaw was a dick, too, but I don't believe he would have ever taken this approach.

i'm not sure how to side w/ the players. if they ran the show it would be the xfl, and probably not pertinent w/in a few yrs. maybe, just maybe, more of them will start learning how to manage their $, and the owners will take better care of ex-players w/ injury issues.

That just means they won't physically be there. Doesn't change their draft rights or status.

would suck to draft Newton and still have the #1 pick when Luck comes out

It`d suck for Cam, of course he might make one hell of a tightend.

This is a neat hypothetical. Lets say this happened, ie we draft Newton, shit the bed and have the #1 next year. Do you take "Mr Once in a Lifetime"?

I'd just as soon go into the draft not thinking franchise QB, there's not a QB there that can step in and start.

I don't like McNabb as our QB, and am lukewarm on Palmer. I'd just as soon investigate what it would take to get Kolb from Philly and if it's similar to what it would take for Palmer, go that route.

If that plan doesn't work out, just re-sign Moore, work on the rest of the team (probably trade Smitty at that point too) and get our QB next year.
