Well I'm certainly not advocating Anderson being a long term starter or think he's that great. I just think I'd rather him start than the pickle for the first few games if Cam sucks it up before then and they decide to let him watch for a while.

If we beat Cinci with Cam at QB, a lot of people are gonna have false hope.

Cincinnati and Charlotte both named Queen city. Bengals not much better than Panthers. Opportunity knocks

Anderson's staggering low number or reps in camp gave me (and others) a lot of doubt as to his role. He's getting some more looks now, which is great.

He was adequate in 2007. That might be sufficient in 2010.

I just don't think Rivera = Fox. If this were JF...well.....remember:

Mike Zimmer can be a real bitch. His defense is eating shit sandwiches right now, as I chronicled last night.

Here's all I want Newton to focus on:

    1. Leg drive on throws
    2. Read progressions, look off safeties
    3. Sell the play-fake with more authority

If he can do these three things well, it will be hard for Cincy to defend what we have, particularly with Smith back.

If he gets sloppy in any of those areas, which he may very well, then he still is the #1 guy--likely--but the confidence factor stays level. He needs to have a good game, no matter the opponent, and the other team has little-to-no impact on his ability to be disciplined in the three elements listed above.

for me, it's that Anderson is a vet and we should've gotten one who can start. Based on how long we waited, I'd guess we wanted Bulger, but can't corroborate it.

I don't know. Easier to eval with a few games than one but the last two were obviously very different games. A downfield passing Clausen is something I'd be interested in, but we didn't have that against MIA.

Please trust me that Anderson was not adequate in 2007 either. I had to write a fantasy piece back then explaining to people that the guy sucked horse cock and should not be drafted based on his '07 touchdown total. He just threw the ball up to Braylon repeatedly, and for one season it did work, but he was still woefully inaccurate and showed horrible decision making in that season as well. I'm not exaggerating when I say that I'm not sure he isn't the worst QB currently employed in the NFL.

Peete was safe and could compete ~8 yard passes. Anderson is terrible while thinking he's exceptional.

Whatever, he can run a little.

I do appreciate your efforts in your blog, don't get me wrong. You have good insight and great enthusiasm.

Personally I'm fucking pissed, but unsurprised, that we sucked so hard.
