I must be missing something. How are we going to sign anyone let alone our draft picks without a bunch more cuts?

We will probably be able to do some restructuring. I would not look for us to sign any one to a big dollar contract though. I would think some good players will end up playing for the minimum this year though.

You don't sign draft picks till July. That's after the June 1 cuts, though honestly I can't think of anyone who's a top candidate - we don't like to do that.

Problem is, it's not about just beingunder the cap, by 4 pm we're supposed to tender RFAs.

There won't be any June 1st cuts this year. Everyone who is getting cut will get cut soon because the cap hit can't be split into an uncapped year. So whether you're cut before June 1st or afterwards, the hit will still fall entirely on the 2006 cap.

first of all, is it that far out of the question that Buck returns at a lower price ala Troy Brown to the Patriots last year...i mean business is business and sometimes the players actually understand that and come back to where they're comfortable.

and second, maybe Ellison is better than everyont thinks...oh wait...

Was looking at other teams' boards and on the Falc board someone said Buck was being interviewed on Sirius and and he'd like to be an Iggle or a Mexican.

Btw, lots of idiots there but the one I liked the best said they were him and a good safety away from a SB.

Another btw, in their RIP Claridge thread (2nd post) a guy has a Smitty quote in his sig line:

Anyone know where that came from? I cannot imagine Smitty saying that.

I heard it on my lunch hour. But he prefaced that with "I'm not looking for a blockbuster deal -- I'm years past that, but I'm looking to be that veteran leader backup that some teams might need to get to the next level. At this point in my career, I'm chasin' a ring." Then he rattled off a few teams like Philly, Atlanta, and Jacksonville.

    TEARS OF JOY IN CAROLINA

One of the things we're hearing in the aftermath of the first wave of cap cuts is that some of the players in Carolina are happy to see defensive tackle Brentson Buckner go.

Though always good for a compelling quote, a lot of his teammates didn't like him.

Buckner had toyed with the possibility of retiring, but had decided to play another year, at least. If he's going to do so, he'll need to find another team.
