he's a punter who's probably made one tackle for us

If he were a man, a team member he would obey the coaches regarding his weight and fill in for Kasay if asked to help out the team just as you or I would be expected to to in our own jobs.

I lost a little respect for him when he danced on his coffee table, when one of the local stations interviewed him in the pink building awhile back. Anybody else see that? :tdo3:

    >>he's nowhere near a pro-bowl punter, 9th in league in gross yards

You oughta tell that to all those silly people who've voted him All Pro and Pro Bowler the last three years.

    >>I don't want to be a team that relies on a pro-bowl punter to lead them to a 2-7 record

I don't blame him for that. He does his job.

    >>Having Todd basically is keeping us from a pretty damn good kicker

We have a pretty damn good kicker. John Kasay makes about the same as Sauerbrun. The difference? Sauerbrun's about as good as a punter can get, Kasay's tailing off a bit.

At any rate, both make around twice what the league minimum is for that amount of experience.

He was third last year, unless more than 2 go he didn't deserve it then either. He's not a top punter this year and that is a fact. You may get pleasure from saying you have a pro bowl punter who isn't performing like one but I don't.

Whatever, this doesn't have much to do with his performance as much as his attitude.

I like having him on the team, but the guy has the biggest ego. He's made numerous comments over the years that really have bothered or offended me. I find myself wanting to say just shut up and play ball. Remember his contract year he was going to whomever would cough up the cash? Deep down I don't think the guy has much loyalty. Yes, fining for one or two pounds is a bit silly, but it's done around the league. It would be better to start fining at a certain percent over your weight target, but that's not what they do. I don't think Todd needs to punt, kick off and kick field goals/extra points either, but again, he just needs to shut up and play

I find it much easier to cheer an Al Wallace type who stays because he loves the organization - I DO cheer for Todd, there are just times when he makes me less enthusiastic.

I think its funny. And I bet Hurney and Fox laugh at him behind closed doors.

He's a kicker, a good one, with a God complex. That is funny. I remember he was mouthing off about how well he can throw, then when he had to, it came out end over end. LMAO. As Fox inferred after the Saints game, a legend in his own mind.

I don't want him kicking because he's not that good of a place kicker. He moved to punter in college for a reason. He was clutch (and lucky) in a pinch last week with the knuckleball, but if Kasey can't kick on Saturday we'll let the new dude kick.

There's no reason to cut him. He's a good punter and part of the reason we have good coverage on our kicks.

Punter's aren't cancers. Nor do they "play like beasts." Yeah, he's a bit big for a Punter and can tackle better than the average punter, but he's still a punter.

I think someone should put some CARB-1000 mix in his oatmeal and make sure he stays above 217. That'd be funny.
