So Indy is not a good place for a NASCAR race as it stands now. Thanks for clarifying that.

Dude, read what I am writing. If Goodyear had a tire that was better for Indy (as they have had in the past) there wouldn't a thread about this.

For the last time, stop. Indy has been fine for 14 years. Goodyear hosed them in year 15. Enough.

If you read the post, Goodyear did offer them a better harder tire and they chose the softer one.

in fact, it helped them. NASCAR drivers had the option of a harder compound, slicker (more durable) tire or opt for the softer, better handling tire.

I am done. Indy must be on the list of travel assignments for you.

The tire made by Goodyear was sub-standard for the combo of new car & track surface. Had there been a full fledged test, the scenario would never have presented itself. Long and short of it, the tire sucked, both NASCAR & Goodyear hoped for the best which never came.

I won't blame the track surface totally, but you would think the place could afford a smoother surface after 99 years of racing there.

No, Im not kidding. I think Indianapolis is a great track and just because the turns aren't the 36 degrees like Bristol, doesnt mean it's crap. Some of the best races I've ever seen were at Winston-Salem's Bowman Gray Stadium and the track is completely FLAT. Prior to this year's fiasco, some great races were held at IMS and the drivers can reach over 200 MPH on the main straits. And when you hear more talk about winning at Indianapolis instead of Daytona, to me, that's putting Indy at a higher level than Daytona.

Personally, NASCAR is boring. The only races I watch is The Daytona 500, The Brickyard 400, and both road course races at Sonoma and Watkins Glen. Im more of a IRL, CART, Formula One guy. I like speed, but I also like watching a good road course race beause there's more to racing than just driving at high speed, drafting, and making left turns.

NASCAR should consider dumping the road course races all together.

This week I'm actually hearing more talk about winning at Pocono.
