The team might not be for sale. But the league doesn't have to let them leave charlotte if there is a fair offer on the table.

Wow. Interesting wrinkle - black ownership. Am I wrong in assuming there aren't many black owned NBA teams? Would this actually be the first?

I doubt the rest of the owners would vote to allow a city to force somebody to sell their team -- I mean, that'd be opening them up to the same thing. However, if they thought it was "for the good of the league" they might consider it further. It'd have to be a really sweet deal, I would think.

A black owned team might be a good PR move for the NBA in general. They could use something. Still, I don't see anybody way overpaying to get the Hornets, and that's what it would take to convince Shinn to sell.

The black ownership thing may play an important roll in this thing. they should write a clause in there that the new owners can't sell for at least 5 years. Otherwise, it could be one of those deals like with Harvey Gantt and those guys and the tv station.

I can see the black ownership playing a big role. First majority black owner in the NBA. They will have to handle this with kid gloves if they allow the move. I would think now they would make them stay in Clt. NAACP will probably get involved before it's over with.
