    First Thompson
    Then Hampton
    Now Tim Hudson

    Not to mention Chipper Jones

My Phillies are losing Randy Wolf for the year. Seems like yesterday he started the All-Star game (3 years ago?) Injuries suck

it was bound to happen sooner or later. they've been fortunate through the years to maintain their winning ways......but right now, nobody is running away with the nl east. im sure everybody is tired of watching them choke in the post season too.........well not everybody :banginghe

Braves are screwed unless Furcal and Giles hit about 350 the rest of the season

The Braves have been pretty unlucky this year. The injuries have piled up, Mondesi and Jordan have both been bad gambles, Furcal is having an off year plus the closer they were counting on Kolb is, well, a little less than impressive. Been a Braves fan since they moved to Atlanta when I was a kid and I suffered through a LOT of bad years. They've repaid me with over a decade of success so I'm not going to bitch about the 2005 season.

It's pretty amazing that they are 2 games above .500. Smoltz and Davies will have to carry the pitching staff. Ramirez will have to do better, and if the Braves can sweep the Reds they are right back in the middle of things, but the schedule coming up is as brutal as any schedule in the majors. They got ripped off on having to go to Boston to play the Red Sox while the Marlins had to play the Devil Rays.

Pretty Shaky having to depend on a rookie but you gotta do what you gotta do. The scheduling was done before all of this. If I am not mistaken this year completed the whole inter league roulette. Since inter league began every NL team now has played every AL team in a series. The rivalry games are every year, but they do throw in another team from the opposite league. Luck of the draw.

People seem to forget that they were in a very similar situation last year with Giles, Chipper, etc missing considerable time before the All-Star break.

I do believe they have a better record now than they did at this point last year. You get the games back that Kolb blew and you are right there in about first place.
