Where did it say he got an injury settlement. Everything I've seen says "released"

    So depressing.

Especially when I look around the league and see guys i liked as late rounders (Cecil Shorts III and Jonathan Dwyer) blossoming for their teams now and the complete drivel we signed in 11 and 10.

Nice to see Hardy step up Sun but we need that more consistently.

Fua and Hogan were back to back picks that year and that was the best we could do?

Colin McCarthy would have been nice.

I don't think you can release a player directly from IR without a settlement, at least I've never heard of it.

Maybe Hogan/his agent feel he can help a team faster than the team doctors do and took little or no cash.

Is this our worst year? Ever??? regardless of wins, just because our franchise is buttfucked for the next few years???

It feels pretty low because the organization is a mess and the team doesn't have a lot of young talent. The QB who is both young and talented appears to be a headcase who has already talked about leaving the franchise. But it could be worse. It's amazing how just asking "What if they had drafted Blaine Gabbert?" makes me feel better. Plus, Kuechly is fun to watch in the middle.

Rarely is blowing everything up the right answer. There are pieces here that can contribute. There are some bad contracts on the books for sure and there will likely be big personnel moves this off season. Starters recently signed to contracts will likely be gone but things are capable of being turned around. You have to look at what San Fran has done. They didn't do anything ridiculous but built up steadily. There is hope and while this season is gone things can change pretty quickly.

San Francisco had everything but a competent coach and quarterback. There wasn't all that much that needed to be turned around.

I'd like to strike a balance between scorched earth and business as usual.

There's always hope in the NFL. Even this team is three late FG's away from being 4-3.

yeah. Some of what's here will be here out of necessity, but some of it's legitimately a part of this team and it might just make a little more than you'd like. A big part of 2003 was embracing some of what was already here.

Dunno about that. It seemed like they acquired a dominant secondary in one offseason, with the light going on for Goldson, and Rogers being signed and all of a sudden living up to his potential. That secondary is HUGE in today's NFL.

Oh, and that Aldon Smith guy? Yeah he doesn't suck either.
