Collin's just pissed because the voices in his head disagree with him on this.

Didn't CBS just sign a multi billion dollar deal with the NCAA to televise the NCAA tourney? Damage control spending? As well as a huge money maker for both NCAA (schools) and CBS, everyone wins. Hardly damaging IMO

Not damaging to the tournament itself, obviously. A college football playoff would be similarly huge in terms of ratings and revenue. For all that complete morons used to say that they avoided a playoff because of money, I think money will probably be the final reason that creates a playoff if it does happen. But you know it's true that no one gives a shit about the college basketball regular season. College football post-playoff wouldn't be quite as bad, but it would still lose most of what makes it special. Hell, how much does a normal person (meaning not Purrsecutioner) get upset or giddy about a Panthers game? If you have a playoff, the regular season just doesn't have anywhere near the same interest or urgency.

And I get it, guys. I wouldn't be so angry and bitter if it wasn't a common occurrence for me to watch the rest of the world be completely oblivious to what seems obvious to me. It's frustrating to be surrounded by people who can't see what you do. As the saying goes, ignorance is bliss.

You're either an employee of ESPN or president of the Jim Delany Fan Club. Which is it?

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out where college football is headed. It's headed for a playoff. ESPN/ABC already televise 33 of the 35 bowls. While ratings are down from where they were on the major networks, they are great for cable. ESPN needs loads of programming for all their networks, and are making a killing on their present deal nearly tripling their investment in ad sales. The next big thing in sports will be a college football playoff, and ESPN has the money to make it happen. I'm sure all the BCS conferences and major bowls will have record-setting bucks thrown their way to make it happen & it will. It's what everyone wants.
