cam is quick when he needs to escape. couple times already this preseason any other qb on the roster was going down. he doesn't need to be as fast as mv, he's bigger. all cam has to do is get anyone but the front 4 wrong footed just a hare, and there is no way they'll tackle him. he's too big and strong. he doesn't need quite the setup mv needs. he's gonna be just as dangerous i think.

 

Nate Clements is a cornerback and had no problem bringing down Newton in the open field. I don't know why people pretend that Cam is some kind of elite athlete when he clearly isn't. As stated in another thread, Tyrod Taylor is clearly more elusive when he takes off. Newton can create yardage in a similar way to Vince Young, and he should, but ultimately his success will have to come from passing the ball. He's never going to amass 675+ rushing yards in a season the way Vick has done four times.

 

I don't want Newton to rush for long runs and TDs very often. I want him to be elusive in the pocket, be hard to bring down like Ben Roethlisberger and a good scrambler like Josh Freeman.

I don't see him as a Michael Vick kind of player but I do think he is a superior athlete at the QB position. I do think he will be on par with Freeman and maybe a little better.

 

Roethlisberger and Freeman are reasonable comparisons.
