That farewell press conference was one of the strangest things I've ever seen. He's talking about the team's future as if he's still a part of it.

Weird. I think he requested it, wants to somehow get the last word in.

Yesterday he even said "hopefully I'll get to talk to you guys"....

Just weird. That shit got dysfunctional in a hurry. He left that place a dysfunctional horror house with no first round draft pick...tho I suppose it's debatable who's fault that was.

Clearly Shanahan's fault. Say what you will about Snyder, but he gave Shanahan everything he asked for.

Yup, personnel control and everything. Maybe Snyder shouldn't buddy-buddy with RG3, but in terms of actual football things I haven't heard of Snyder interfering at all. Shanahan fucked it up because he's bad.

Didnt holmgren get similar control somewhere and he shit his pants? It's a special person that can do both

Coaches and GM's really are two different breeds of people, so I don't think it's ever a good idea to give a coach full personnel control. Coaches are charged with day-to-day team running responsibilities, while a GM has to keep an eye to the future. I don't think you can do both. Shanahan squandered the first two years of their "rebuilding" by bringing in players who were clearly past their prime. They never developed young players who could help them 3-4 years down the road.

    A little surprised, but I guess I shouldn't be.

Agreed 100%. I can't think off hand of a situation where that's been successful. Can anyone?
