My only hope with Rivera is that we've already made a decision. Keep him? Fine. Go in another direction? Even better, imo. I just hope that we're not taking it all the way down to this meaningless game to make a long term decision.

I could see deciding on a GM and letting him decide, I guess. Hiring a GM that has associations/works well with him* as a primary consideration might not be helpful though. Either way, it's going to take a lot of time one way or another, if Rivera isn't fired Monday. Not saying I want that to happen, but from a time standpoint, you're probably going to piss a lot away with Rivera still there.

*which is Ross, BTW, if I had to guess.

My favorite thing about Mike Lombardi is that he leaks rumors linking himself to every GM opening.

Yep he seems to be their number one choice with Tom Gamble of sf as choice number 2. Which is why I am pulling for a Viking, cowboy, or Detroit win to eliminate the giants

Someone else noted media speculation that Beane will be named the permanent GM.

That would surprise me. I don't have a problem with keeping him around in some capacity, but the team needs to bring in someone with a proven track record of scouting and drafting success, which both Ross and the guy in SF have.

the speculation overall has Ross here and Gamble in Jax. Certainly good point about the Giants, I don't think they'll get in either way.

I'm just ready to move on. Get some bad contracts out of here and have a solid draft by someone with a clue. No moe Matt Millenesque like drafts

I wonder if Lovie is out in Chicago after missing out on the playoffs. Wasn't that long ago people were talking about them as Super Bowl favorites.
