never a waste, never a shame. Don't use oink. No one ever gave me an invite of the few hundred I've asked. Everyone just leeches.

Which is what's nice about Torrents. They make you share, to a point. You can be a dick and close it out right after you've gotten it all, but it goes against the basic idea of sharing and the community. It's available at all because others are generous.

bt.etree.org is live music, other than that you have to 'find' the torrent sites that are up, they move around.

I had in mind I would give you an invite when I received them. But ya know, I'm beginning to feel guilty because I can't share, so leaving there might be what I end up doing.
I was able to get The Rolling Stones Historical Collection overnight. I'm not talking about a few songs. I'm talking - I stopped counting after 175 songs. Now, granted it was complete albums so there could be repeat songs, but still -I was hooked. I went absolutely crazy and I almost felt dirty for stealing the way I was. Now, I just wanted to be able to give back to someone. I think I might find help on the forums, I know it has to be some setting I'm using, I just hoped someone here understood it.
Ie.... I hoped all Bit Torrents ran the same or I guess I thought 'Bit Torrent' was a specific program and I could learn from everyone here how to apply it in Oink. I used etree a couple of times via links from friends, I might check that out. Thanks mags, I'm still saving you an invite if I get them.

Whats the name of the software you downloaded in order to connect to Oink? There are many and each would probably be a little differant in terms of what peculiar things could be happening.

There is one called BitTorrent but there are also many other. I used Bittornado.

Yes yes it is BitTorrent for sure. That I know. Bittornado doesn't work well on Oink, or so they say...
I just tried making a torrent to share. Um... I'm in way over my head. I think I'm just gonna steal as much as I can before they toss me. :(

I'm on Oink. Send me emails and I'll try to invite all from work tomorrow.

I have the same problem. Noone downloads from me on there. Don't understand it. I have uTorrent as my client.

I get most of my stuff from Demonoid and Mininova.

    Torrentspy.com is a good website.

I use Azureus as my client.

well, I found two ways into getting some ratio. My up speeds are still shit after port forwarding and configuring the modem, and so on.
One was by downloading a 1 gig file everyone wants (Windows SP2 updates), and hoping tons of people would want to grab it - this backfired. Slow upload speeds have killed any chance of quickly regaining that ratio.

The second was grabbing a few files of a huge compilation, rather than the whole compilation; people will still leech from you, you'll still transfer out information. You just won't have to download a 2 gig "albums of the 80s" compilation to get the upload credit.

the third was upping my own torrent, of which no one has touched whatsoever.
I figured that'd at least buy me a couple hundred megs, but nobody's flinched at it.

I just started playing with this this weekend too. Bittornado has a driver that crashes my desktop here at home. I did start a download from work on friday. The whole 1 gig file finished uploading saturday. Because I am still on the torrent at work my down/upload ratio is gradually increasing. Its almost up to 1.0 now. Upload rates will always be slower because cable and dsl companies limit them. The best way to increase your ratio is to leave any popular torrent you running for a few days after you have all of it.
