But I can't for the life of me find the Word programme on this PC. I need to cut and paste things into a word document for work - and I can't find it anywhere! I thought computers would have this as a basic thing? Shouldn't there be a shortcut to it when I turn on the PC? I tried looking for it in www.downloads.com - but there's nothing there except updates. Can someone with a bit of nouce please help me find it - I've never used it before - but I thought it would be a doddle to find it - and it bloody isn't! Does anyone have any ideas? Can I download it - or do I have to buy a disk thingy and do it that way?

    Cheers - :)

Word doesn't come with the bloody computer, sorry HG ;)

I don't have it, but if I did, you would have it.

In the Start Menu, in Accessories, do you see a Notepad application? That might get you though what you need for now.

I'm sure someone in here can help you out. If not there is always the other way of getting what you need...

Cheers - thanks Y2! I just thought I might be overlooking something basic - now that I know for sure it's not there - I can stop looking! Yes, I've got the notepad thing - and I guess that'll suffice :). Cheers matey - !

Thanks Twenty! I'll go and have a looksee there. If I have no luck - I'll check in with my Dad who has more bits and pieces on disk than anyone I've ever seen!

legally all you can do is go to downloads.com and get an office compatible suite freebie. word docs are not accessable with word pad although word pad files can be accessed by word. word alone costs about 100 dollars US but as I said there are freebie word processors on downloads.com that can open word docs and save as word docs. If you weren't on dialup I'd email it to you.

Thanks Vor - I might go back into downloads.com and have another go at it. My Dad was going to give me a disc, but I've just got home and we've both forgotten about it - D'oh! Thanks for this though Vor - :)
