Ward rises up with a shutout. Couldn't have been a better game. Ladd scores, trying to prove his worth, Wallin scores, meaning our defense finally steps up, Cole returns to the starting lineup, Ovechkin and Alexander Semin, the Capitals' top two scorers, were limited to a combined eight shots. That's awesome.

This is the game that creates a spark for the rest of the season, getting us into the playoffs.

Hope so, they haven't put together a big streak all year. Now would be the perfect time. I was talking to some Canes fans when I went to that Pens game, It's amazing how many have totally written off this season and given up hope. I think you're right, I could see them totally getting hot going in.
Cole is back? I thought he was pretty much done with a torn muscle. How long was he out?

    bang wagon fans.

this is it, the NY game tomorrow is huge as well. It's in NY, and we'll need to continue to press the defense and get better play out of Staal and the leaders on offense to keep the push going into the off season. If we can do so, I think we'll win at least the first round into the playoffs.

Cole was out a couple weeks, 7 games with a torn muscle in his hip. He came back to help push us into the playoffs.

not really. Forcing a better team at home into OT, we out shot them, they only scored twice, once in OT, with 26 total shots on goal. Moral victory, one point for the standings, still pushing the proverbial flywheel the right direction.

played prcatically the entire third period on their side of the ice and had a power play oppurtunity in over time. you have to win this game.

on the positive side, Grahem looked good until the shoot out.

I didn't get to see the game, but the stats were good. Don't think its a "must win" just yet, just need to get points so we can squeak into the playoffs, thats all that matters.

It wasn't a must win the standings, it was a must win in the fact that you outplayed them and came up short, imho, that's been the Canes troubles all season.
