The 4 man pass rush vs. the whipass oline of Seattle is a problem that may wind up EXPOSING a solid secondary for too long.

We need big games from the dline. big big games.

We've done quite a bit of blitzing from the second level, so that doesn't really concern me. But we do need the line to have great gap intergity this week, and not revert back to the Dallas game, or even Sunday in some instances.

I'm very excited about Jackson v. Lucas. Should be a great battle. I'm a little concerned about Manning on their 3rd option, be it Engram or Hackett. And stoping Stevens, who's been a big part of their success this year.

Don't constantly give up 4 and 5 yard gains on 1st down, and I like our chances. A lot has been made of Hasselbeck's turnaround, but he can still use poor judgement, if the down and distance is in our favor and we get adequate pressure.

Agree. Emotion wins games. It was what fueled our win against Chicago. (And, conversely, on Nov. 20 the Bears had it and we didn't.)

Seattle is a tough matchup, but where will they be emotionally? Tight? Confident? Fired up? The Panthers appear to have a we-will-not-be-denied attitude. I think it can carry them a long way. Past the lack of Foster. Past the attempt to shut Smitty down. All the way to a win in Detroit, if they can keep that fire going.

Looking forward to a great game Sunday.:trophy:

We might be the best team they've played as well. Their players' experience with us was vs a floundering team riddled with injuries, that's not what we're bringing this time around. Not realizing how fast or good someone is until you face them goes two ways.

I'm hoping they have a let down... or are distracted by the magnitude of the whole thing, just don't handle the pressure well. It's the biggest game most of those guys have ever played, we have a definite advantage there. It ain't gonna be easy, but we have a great shot if the "good" Panthers show up.

We need to pressure with 4 only because they are very good at picking up the blitz and making big plays against them.

They consistently burned wash evertime they blitzed- on third and long especially.

    Wash got Zero sacks.

    Neither team got intercepted.

They shut down Portis and the Wash run game. They did not shut down Moss.
They pressured Brunell pretty well, but he did complete 22/37 for 242 yds @ 6.5/per, but only one TD.

Wash did shut down their run game for the most part (seattle had 33 att for 119 yrds @ 3.6/per for one TD. Strong had one for 32 at the end that virually sealed the game. Of course, Alex was hurt from the beginning, altho he had a few rushes for nothing per hardly before he was hurt.

You either feel the pressure or you apply it. Coming in as the dogs I'm guessing we play loose, Panther football.

    True.

But three fumbles by Seattle in critical locations certainly helped that a tad.

Gamble gives too much cushion way too often, though you're right, it hasn't been exploited as of late. And there's RMJ and McCree's tendecies to not wrap up and instead lay a big hit. However, it's not as much that I think our secondary is weak as much as I worry about Hasselbeck's skills.

For the record, Seattle gave up only one fewer sack than we did this season on about the same number of pass attempts.
