Does he actually make the team? I've been thinking they'd carry 3 QBs because of last year's flop, but it could be possible there will only be 2 and a PS squad guy.

Basanez hasn't really been impressive at all this preseason, so does he go?

He's likely to get a lot of playing time tonight. If he bombs...they may let him go to free up a space for Rhys Lloyd. (speculation implied) I really doubt it though...three QBs is a must with Delhomme so fresh from surgury.

yeah, tonight he should be playing up to a half. Assuming he's not a disaster, I can't see us not rostering him, but we could PS him technically. If he is a disaster, I would expect them to go without for a week and then pick up a veteran in week 2 or 3 as the 3rd guy. I'd be very surprised if they just went with 2 QB again this year.

I still feel like, based on my 53, that the decision on Lloyd will be him v/s a 9th DL, 7th LB, or 9th DB. We carry more defenders because of ST, so that's the easier place to cut. Offensive players generally all fit into specific roles by the time you get to 53, to the point where the guys who are active are generally all going to see time other than backup linemen and QB.

    edit

Plus, that 3rd QB is a given inactive that still gets to dress; going with 2 QBs and having a 4th ST specialist puts us very light on our active players that can play from scrimmage.

What are the thoughts on Moore? He doesn't seem to have progressed much if any.

I think he would look a lot different with the first team O.

actually I've thought Moore has looked decent. Not spectacular, but he's cut down on some of his mistakes from last year.

not much has really happened with him in the game lately, but he was solid against IND. I went back and looked at 3rd down this past week and he was 0-4 including a sack, but as a team we were 2-11 (four runs, a sack, an INT) so we could've done better overall.

i'm not a fan of Bas...

it still shocks me that Batch goes down and the Steelers pick up Leftwich off the street, that's actually an upgrade...

but if we end up dropping Bas, who else is out there? I guess the Bucs got to let some QB's go eventually... I'd like to have somebody to push Moore

Tonight will be interesting to me because of the QB situation. I want to see these guys go out there and manage the game and minimize the mistakes.

They should be releasing Chris Simms any day now, not that he'd want to come here, heh.
