averaged 22 pts a game in the NBA over a career of 509 games and was an all star MVP in both the NBA and ABA before injuries and drugs ended his career

Hey Brain, let me assure you of one thing, I've forgotten more about B-Ball than you'll ever know. Perkins could in fact have played the wing even though Doherty was played there, he moved outside many times. But to ease your concern, let's put, say, Dudley Bradley instead. They have enough offense with the other four.

AND, Charlie Scott was a better college player than Jordan. Ask anyone that saw them both play.

Lanier, Sanders, Crawford, Stith and Winn would whip any five Charlotte could trot out.

    :woohoo:

    (DaveW will vouch for that.)

If we are going with a pure shut down defender, then give me Billy C. How did cornbread fare against him in the pros? This is not comparing their pro careers, but the principals of one on one defense don't change THAT much.

You're missing the point, and so are chip and morgan. The NBA has nothing to do with this discussion. David Thompson, despite whatever he did in the NBA, was a MUCH better college player than he was a pro. I coudl have also said Ralph Sampson, or Lew Massey, or half of Duke's final four teams. The list is endless.

Most of you are basing your opinion on what Jordan became in the NBA. In college, he had no jump shot. And if you'd stop gobbling his cock for the past 20 years, you might have heard him say that.

The best 12 from the Niners could play with anyone, save maybe the UCLA all-timers. Dean and Frank, I believe, both said in '77 that the Niners had the best starting 5 in the nation, yet not a damn one of you knows anything about them except for Cedric.

And Henry Williams was one of the best guards I've ever seen play. He could flat out ball.
