You claimed that his bad games were due to good defenses. I saw that the his performance in the Cinci game was bad, so it wasn't a big leap to assume that you considered Cinci to be a good defense. That's not a particuarly huge leap there.

Regarding Cincinnatti not being a good defense, what's going on with the stat line? He was 18/39 (46%), averaged 5.3 yards per completion for 208 yards. INTs aside, that's a bad game. Note, I did not see this game, though I saw the Jax and San Diego games.

Really not trying to tweak you at all here - I'm assuming you've watched more of the Steelers than I have this year and you're claiming that his woes have been due to facing good defenses. Which is legit, good defenses make good QBs look bad all the time. But if Cinci is not a good D, why does his stat line look so crappy?

If you can't even quote me correctly, you should really keep your mouth shut. I said "tough defenses," and as noted, nowhere did I imply that I was talking about every single one of those defenses. As for why Roethlisberger did poorly against Cincinnati, it's partly because Pittsburgh pass blocked poorly while the Bengals are a ballhawking group that does a good job of suckering quarterbacks into making costly mistakes, and partly because QBs just have bad games. You seem to be assuming that bad games only happen against great defenses, which is obviously absurd.

Ok, let's consider this: You post a lot in the Football forums. Probably as much as anyone else. I don't have hard numbers here, but aside from magnus, you are probably top 5 in posts over the last year or so. In addition, you claim that you are an authority on football, at least when compared to the laymen here, such as myself. And finally, you are quite inflammatory. You insult insult people, get pissed off at the smallest perceived slight, and I believe you once claimed that you got mad at your toaster or something to that extent.

It should really come as absolutely no surprise that people respond to you. You claim that a lot of people "follow you around" and are "obsessed with you". I doubt anyone is obsessed with you - to be honest, when I'm not browsing TBR, you simply don't exist to me. But you've set yourself up as a high profile participant in these forums, thus you get a lot of attention. It's not obsession. Really.

Hey, you know what? It would have been much simpler if you had just said "nah, I wouldn't consider Cinci to be a great/tough/good (choose your adjective) defense, Ben just had a crappy game; pittsburgh's pass blocking sucked, and Cinci's D ballhawked as they always did" and I probably would have just said "oh, ok."

Instead, you decided to once again go war under the banner of semantics, tossing out insults and criticisms, perpetuating your own myth that people are obsessed, or that they even give a rats ass that you exist. I actually try to like you, Collin. In a "some random guy on some internet message board" kind of way. You're undoubted very intelligent, and you're an excellent resource on a subject that I'm very enthusiastic about, specifically football. I think your new site is fantastic - if I were your "career counselor", I'd recommend you keep it up; that's the type of thing that could get your foot in the door if you ever wanted to become a professional scout.

You'd have a better chance of making this excusatory argument if you hadn't just admitted that you were screwing with me recently (although you claim you aren't this time). As for what others do, you've made that argument already and were proven wrong there too. Certain people certainly do seek out opportunities to have a shiftfit with me, and in most cases it's definitely stemming from resentment from previous encounters.

It would be much simpler if you didn't post idiotic things. It would be much simpler if you didn't accuse me of things I didn't say. It would be much simpler if you didn't intentionally seek to provoke these exchanges. Thelt and I have gone at it in the past, but do you see him trying to piss me off? No. He's doesn't give a rip shit about me, he just posts what he thinks, and that's cool.

Something can't be a myth if it's proven true, and this has been numerous times. I've pointed out to you several times that those people bitch at me and insult me even when I'm not around, so that tells you all you need to know. As to whether or not you in particular are obsessed, that's more circumstantial.

Why do you get so much attention? You instigate people. Maybe you're right. Some people might bitter. Why? While I'm sure there are exceptions, it's because somewhere along the way you've gone out of your way to insult or belittle them. Some people don't forgive and forget.

But you do have a modicum of control over the situation.

Go back and look at the posts before December 2004. I've taken the heat off of him because he used to take a lot of beatings himself (and dish some out).

Having people bitch at me gives me a headache, so I definitely don't enjoy the attention. The main reason I get the response I do is because I genuinely don't care to be liked. I say what other people think but don't have the bad manners to express.

Oh, just for a matter of record, it wasn't until our little conversation a few weeks back where you said something to the extent of "if you died, nobody would care" that I decided I wanted to give you a hard time. I didn't really plan on it, but I certainly didn't hold back when I saw opportunities to give you some grief.

I'll also admit that I often don't give the threads here 100% of my attention, leading to me occasionally saying retarded stuff or reading things the wrong way. Clearly I deserve the insults you hurl my way. Such is life.

I have tried to avoid personal insults and such (I did say something like "if you disappeared, people would through a party" though that may not count since you agreed) and wish you would also.

 

Some of us "fans" work for a living and don't have time to sit at our computers all day. For the record I hate wrestling and bowl occasionally and since this is a Panthers forum why would I be here typing up the Steelers the way they have been playing. :apfbbt: :apfbbt: :apfbbt:
