is Tom Brady REALLY that good? Seemed like the Colts (and I know they are thin defensively) were giving him way too much respect. Sure, he has won a couple of rings, but still, we are talking about the 199th pick in the draft! I think he is slightly above average with a really solid O-line in front of him buying him obscene amounts of time.

Am I bitter, or does anyone agree?

don't remember the coach's name, but the HC that coached him at Michigan was on the radio saying "Griese was an okay QB, but wait until you see this kid Tom Brady, extraordinary, leadership, smart, yada yada, etc..."

That was before Bledsoe got hurt, before Brady actually played. I'll never forget that.

I do not really think that the Pats OL is that great. They just get rid of the ball quickly and are great at spreading you out. The beauty of their offense is that they do not have any one guy that gets more action than the others. Brady can go anywhere with the ball. His strength is that he has great touch on the short passes. I think it is sort of like Monatana in that he is good and he is in the perfect system for his skills.

Above average, but otherwise, I agree. I could make some of those throws with the time he has. It's not like he throws 40 yard bullets most of the time. More like lazy 15 yarders to a man who suddenly broke free after 10 seconds of solid coverage. A lot of his passes were thrown at low velocity that almost allowed the cover guys a chance to get to them.

Since he has so much time, he rarely ever forces things, which makes him look like a genious. The one pass he did rush/force got picked off.

He placed the ball very well in most throws. Their was some tight coverage at times, And though he's not fast, he does move well. And its more like 3 or 4 seconds, not 15. He doesn't hold the ball long.

The Pats line is good though. Very underrated. One thing the Colts usually do well is rush the passer. Like us. He just doesn't get sacked anymore.

That's a big difference from his first two years starting, even the first SB year. He took a fair share of sacks. Not anymore. I expect Brady to get better. Thought he should have gone to Hawaii instead of Green last year.

Tom Brady is a better quarterback than he was last year, which he finished as the Super Bowl MVP, or in 2001, which he also finished as the Super Bowl MVP.

I can't believe I am saying this, but it's true. He is smarter. He is more poised. He is more efficient. He is more accurate. He is more precise.

The most telling part of his performance against the Colts wasn't merely the fact he completed 26 of 38 passes for 335 yards and three touchdowns, or finished with a passer rating of 111.2, it is that each of those completions was thrown to the perfect spot for the receiver to catch.

Granted, the Colts have problems in their secondary, which is short of exceptional talent and has a long injury list. But Brady doesn't exactly have the most talented group of receivers. And he was without one of his best with Troy Brown sidelined with a knee injury.
